OVERLAND PARK -- "America's Main Street Cookbook," produced by the Kansas I-70 Association, was a winner of the Travel Industry Association of Kansas (TIAK) Marketing Award announced at the Kansas Tourism Conference held recently in Overland Park.
The I-70 Association, which won a co-op marketing award for the cookbook and another for its brochure, is comprised of 14 communities that market cooperatively to attract and encourage travelers to visit cities along Interstate Highway 70 in Kansas.
The cookbook contains recipes from each community that highlight ethnic make-up, historical figures or current famous residents.
Among the 300 recipes are 14 pages featuring historical pictures and information about each community in the association. The cookbook was developed to be given away at promotional events, for incentives to travel writers, and for other marketing endeavors and is also offered for sale at various locations.
The brochure, which lists the cities from west to east by numerical exit numbers, was developed to encourage travelers to stop and journey off I-70 to experience the events and attractions in cities along the interstate highway. The brochure also includes a map with the geographical location of each city as well as the 10 topographic areas to be experienced while driving through the state along this highway.
