Thanks for the laughter

Lesson in Life

On Nov. 5, 2009, Robbin Ward passed away. She was 23 years old. Robbin taught us many valuable lessons in life.

She taught us to not be afraid to love. Her love for her family and friends are proof of that. Robbin taught us about kindness. If you showed kindness to others, you receive it back in tremendous amounts. She taught us about motherhood. To watch her with her young son showed us what a wonderful mother she was and how she loved being a mom.

Most importantly, she taught us to never take life for granted, to live each day to the fullest, which she did. I am honored to have known Robbin, to be her friend. Her spirit will guide us and help us all to be better people and to put her lessons of life to good use. We will miss her.

Thanks for the laughter

I want to thank Roshana Ariel for her column in the Nov. 17 paper. Occasionally, she writes a column that should actually appear in the comic section, and this was one of them. It provided much laughter and really brightened my day.

One of the best ways to gauge who might emerge as a leader on the right is to watch who the left is attacking. Now, I realize that the left attacks anyone who disagrees with them, but the attacks on Palin have been particularly vicious and extended. This puts her as the early leader in the race for 2014.

The problem for us is that most of what Ariel writes about Palin holds true for our current president. A likeable personality and a great smile but hasn't shown he'd make a good president. Check. Lack of understanding on financial matters, foreign affairs, history and government structure. Sounds like our guy.

Palin's comments about death panels was more of a warning. Countries who have socialized medicine do have government panels who decide who gets what in the form of care. The bottom line is that end-of-life decisions are none of the government's business. Getting people all worked up under false pretenses is a tactic stolen directly from our current administration. She should be ashamed!

The funniest part of the column was the worry that we may have had Palin as vice president being one heartbeat away from the presidency. We can close that discussion with two words. Joe Biden. Has this knucklehead been able to string two coherent sentences together since the nomination? I can't recall it ever happening. While you are worried about what may have happened, the rest of us are living it.

Ariel, if you actually attended church, you would be able to see Palin as a regular person doing something that she believes in despite the obstacles put in her path. But like the rest of the left, you disagree with her politics and her pro-life stance, so you choose to attack.
