Investigator Chad McCary of the Salina Police Department on Wednesday was named 2009 Kansas Narcotics Officer of the Year at the annual training conference of the Kansas Narcotics Officers Association in Topeka.
McCary was chosen for the award because of his efforts as lead case-agent during the I-135/I-70 Drug Task Force investigation of a methamphetamine trafficking organization that resulted in more than 30 arrests in November, according to a statement from the Salina Police Department.
Three pounds of meth, $15,000 in drug proceeds, 10 firearms and three vehicles were seized as a result of the investigation, and people accused of bringing an estimated two pounds of meth a week into the area were arrested.
