2 area businesses honored by state business development center

Two area businesses have been named Emerging Businesses of the Year by the Kansas Small Business Development Center.

The businesses are Long's Ranch and Pet Supply, owned by Barrett and Stacie Long, Clay Center; and Tischlerei Inc., owned by Olaf Gergardt, Osborne.

Each of the eight Kansas Small Business Development regional centers had the opportunity to select one emerging business in its region for the award. Out of the 2,400 entrepreneurs who received services in 2009, seven will be recognized at a ceremony at 3 p.m. March 9 at the Dillon House in Topeka.
