Wreaths Across America event Dec. 12 in WaKeeney
WaKEENEY -- The Civil Air Patrol will sponsor its fourth annual Wreaths Across America ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.
Seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed to remember soldiers who gave their lives in service for their country. Specially made wreaths for Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and POW/MIA will be placed as memorials.
Saturday marks the 18th anniversary of Maine wreaths being donated to decorate the graves at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Families will be given the opportunity, after the ceremony, to place wreaths on the graves of their loved ones. American Legion Riders will place wreaths on the graves of soldiers whose family members are unable to attend.
