Visiting Swedish professor to speak at Bethany

LINDSBORG -- Peter Savolainen, Bethany College's 2009-10 Pearson Distinguished Professor of Swedish Studies, will give his final two public addresses Nov. 10 and 18.

On Nov. 10, Savolainen will speak on "Genetic Studies Unraveling the Origins of the Dog," at 7:30 p.m. in Lindquist Hall.

Savolainen will speak on the same topic in Swenson Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 18.

Both presentations are free and open to the public.

Savolainen is an assistant professor at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He specializes in forensic and genetic studies, particularly the study of dogs. In addition to teaching, he serves as a forensic expert for the Swedish police. This fall, he has participated in a number of public events. He also led discussions and classes with students, faculty and staff on campus.
