Nativities to be on display in Denmark
DENMARK -- About 150 nativities are expected to be on display at the fourth annual Festival of the Nativities, which is 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday and 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Denmark Community Hall.
Many of the nativities are on loan from people in the area.
The featured nativity was made in the Philippines and purchased from the Ten Thousand villages in Overland Park. The nativity is handcrafted by artisans working with the Women's Multipurpose Cooperative in Baguio City, the Philippines. The women turn old newspapers into new products by wrapping the paper into narrow rolls and shaping them into forms. The pieces are then joined together with thread and/or glue. The pieces are starched to make them firm and shiny.
Refreshments will be provided. Each adult who attends will receive a ticket for a drawing for a nativity.
Denmark is located seven miles west of Lincoln on Highway 18 and three miles north on 120th Road.
