Lauver banned, unbanned from tax committee testimony

Dennis Lauver, president and CEO of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, was banned Thursday afternoon from presenting future testimony before a Kansas House of Representatives tax committee after he was accused of "disrespecting the chairman" during testimony late Wednesday afternoon.

However, by Friday afternoon, the ban had been lifted.

Sheriff's office seeks information about shot German shepherd

The Saline County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about how a German shepherd dog was shot in the leg.

Because of incorrect information provided to the Journal, the age of Aaron Rowan, who was injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday in the 700 block of North Ohio Street, was incorrect in a story in Friday's edition. Rowan, who was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Tiffany Heath, is 27.

The 5-month-old son of a McPherson County detention officer was placed in protective custody Friday after the baby was found unresponsive Thursday afternoon in a McPherson home, according to a McPherson Police Department statement.
