This is a couple of pictures of my dogs pen. We were unable to make it home before the storms hit.
Our dog Sandy had three trees land all around her. My husband got into town today and thinks a twister
hit our home. We live at 8181 S. Whitmore Rd. Gypsum Kansas She is our hero and the Lord only knows what she went through that night.

A Hero

On the night of the Chapman tornado, there was a young woman at the Middle School shelter. I believe her name is Danielle, she told the storm shelter directors that she was a nurse and offered her assistance. Once the tornado passes through the gym, she was up and outside looking for people. Someone brought in two critically wounded people. A woman with a head injury and her husband with a neck injury. This young nurse tended to both of those people until EMS could get them out. She kept these two people alive for 45 minutes, despite having an injury herself. I watched her run back and forth the whole time, she asked everyone she saw if they were alright. She maintained such a calm demeanor...it was remarkable. I went to find her after the all clear was called and the injured had been taken away. I only caught a glimpse of her as she walked away with her husband...but I could still hear her asking if everyone was ok. I think she needs some sort of recognition, or at least let her know that I saw her efforts...and that she is appreciated.
