Ice cream social planned Thursday

The Salina Parks and Recreation Department 50 Plus Program is sponsoring a free ice cream social at 7 p.m. July 24 at the Salina Senior Center, 245 N. Ninth.

Entertainment will be by Mattson and Weaver.

People who attend are asked to bring a cake or cookies to be served with the ice cream.

Salinans needed to be part of video

Volunteers from the Salina community are needed to be part of a new video installation to be exhibited at the Salina Art Center, 242 S. Santa Fe.

Kansas City artist Barry Anderson will be in Salina from Aug. 2 through Aug. 10 to film a diverse cross section of Salinans for his video project, "Always Becoming Something 3." The exhibition will be installed at the Art Center in early 2009.
