HAYS -- Regina M. Basgall, 86, Hays, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008. She was born Regina M. Urban on Dec. 6, 1921, in Loretta, KS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome, in 1987.
Survivors include sons, Vernon and Daniel of Hays; daughter, Shirley Gottschalk, Hays; brother, Sylvester of Hays; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. at LaCrosse City Cemetery, LaCrosse. A parish vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Mary Anna Bigler
Mary Anna Bigler, age 85, Salina, died March 25, 2008, at the Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center, Salina, KS.
Mrs. Bigler was born Mary Anna Roberts on April 13, 1922, in Tulsa, OK, to Hilry Clyde and Sarah Lou (Brown) Roberts. During her early childhood, her family relocated to Glendale, CA. She graduated from Glendale-Hoover High School and was awarded an acting scholarship to Pasadena Playhouse. She elected to postpone her education and serve her country during World War II in the Women's Army Air Corps, where she was a personnel clerk and performed with various canteen and USO shows. During her time at Williams Field in Arizona, she met her future husband, Oliver Bigler, then a young pilot in training. They married on January 19, 1946, and upon both their discharges, made their home in California. Two daughters were born to this union. In 1957, the family relocated to Gypsum, KS, Oliver's boyhood home. Mary Anna was a member of the Gypsum United Methodist Church, was active in the VFW and Ladies Auxillary, and worked several years with Martin and Ade Earth Contractors.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver, in 1992; one son-in-law, Dan Drummond in 2005; her parents, and a sister, Bernice.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Drummond of Lawrence, KS, and Nancy Behl and husband Chris of Corrales, NM.; and two grandsons, Scott Drummond of New York City and Colin Behl of Corrales, N.M.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum, KS, with the Rev. Carl Ellis officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Albuquerque Boys Choir or to Creede Repertory Theater, in care of the mortuary, where her grandsons remain active participants.

HAYS -- William A. "Bill" Bollig, 93, Hays, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He was born April 6, 1914, in Ellis County. He was a barber.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, of Hays; sons, Dennis (Mary), Lakewood, CO, William (Judy), Poplar Bluff, MO, Harlin (Jodi), Tempe, AZ; daughter, Sue Bollig, Sacramento, CA; sisters, Josephine Heier and Louise Dreiling; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Imateen M. Brown
CLYDE -- Imateen M. Brown, 76, Clyde, died March 15, 2008. She was born May 30, 1931, in Parallel, Kansas, to Carlos Knox and Rose Bowmaker.
She married Carl E. Brown on December 26, 1949, in Clifton, KS. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1997.
Survivors include sons, Kenton Brown and wife Linda, Clyde, KS, John Brown and wife Bobbie Jo, Clifton, KS, and Randy Brown and wife Linda, Topeka, KS; daughters, Deena Johnson and husband Dave, Manhattan, KS, and Carla Bergstrom, Wichita, KS; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and three brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Paula Jean Brown; and a granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Chaplin.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, Kansas. Inurnment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. Parish rosary at 4 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

EVANSVILLE, Wyo. -- William Anton "Bill Kangaroo" Clark, 85, Evansville, died Monday March 24, 2008. He was born Dec. 28, 1922, in McPherson, Kansas. He was an oil field mechanic.
He served in the U.S. Marines during Word War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; a son, Nile A.; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Carla Corson and her husband of Casper; grandchildren, Troy Corson and wife, Taresa Beckett and husband of Casper and Kyla Weigel and husband of Cheyenne; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother; 3 sisters.

OAKLEY -- Joseph M. Hockersmith, age 94, died March 25, 2008.
Mr. Hockersmith was born on August 29, 1913, in Gove County. He was a retired teacher, farmer and rancher.
Survivors include his wife, Imo Jean, Oakley; sons, Donald Hockersmith, Oklahoma City, Delbert Garrett, Park, Oura E. Garrett, Oakley; daughters, Connie Maier, Janice Huelsman, and Charla Morris, Oakley; sisters, Wanda Wildeman, Quinter, and Wilma Doxon, Gove; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents, Christian and Nora Hockersmith, first wife, Myrtis, sons, Jerry and Harvey Hockersmith, infant daughter, Vivian Hockersmith, granddaughter, Donna Jo Woofter; brothers, Charlie, Willis and Harold Hockersmith; and sister Marie Mendenhall.

He was preceded in death by two sons and a stepson.

Frances Leota "Lee" McClintock
Frances Leota "Lee" McClintock, 86, of Salina, died March 22, 2008. She was born August 28, 1921, in Beloit, KS, to Clemens LeRoy and Emily Holbrook Harris.
She graduated from Beloit High School. She was a homemaker. She also worked at Maxine's Dress Shop and helped her husband, Max, in his real estate business. Lee was member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Beloit Eastern Star for more than 50 years, Daughters of the Nile and the Isis Nomads.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; a sister, Emily Harm; and nephew, Timothy Harm.
Lee is survived by two sisters, Charlotte Means of Manhattan, KS, and Mary McClintock and husband Duane of Beloit, KS; a brother-in-law, Wesley Harm of Morton, IL; and many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Trinity Methodist Church, 901 Neal, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Salina. Memorial gifts may be given to the Shriners Children's Hospital Travel Fund. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Melvin L. "Bud" Michaelsen
Melvin L. "Bud" Michaelsen, age 88, Salina, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Salina, Kansas. Mr. Michaelsen was born in Beggs, Oklahoma, on January 28, 1920, to J.C. Michaelsen and Ada Rife Michaelsen. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bedie Absher Michaelsen; and his sister, Marcille McNally.
Bud is survived by four sons: Ron and wife Donita of Salina, Kim and wife Betty of Fernley, Nevada, Jon and wife Sheri of Henderson, Nevada, and Jeff and wife Carmen of Ottawa, Kansas. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren;6 great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Juanita Tower of Sparks, Nevada.
Mr. Michaelsen took great pride in being a developer in Salina from 1947 until 1969. During this time, he built over 1,000 houses. Beatrice Street and Pearl Avenue are named for his beloved wife and mother. He was also the owner of Michaelsen Lumber Company and L & C Lumber Company. Bud was an original and active member and participant of the Salina Association of Homebuilders. After leaving Salina, Mr. Michaelsen built homes in the Reno, Nevada, area, often with his four sons. He was also proud of being a life-long Democrat.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 122 N. Eighth in Salina. The Rev. Troy Bowers will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to First United Methodist Church. There will be no visitation. EDGAR, Neb. -- Latesia M. Peaslee, 84, Edgar, died Friday, March 21, 2008. She was born Latesia M. Holbert on April 27, 1923, in Starlight, PA.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho -- Wilbert H. "Bill" Rediker, 84, of Mountain Home, ID, died March 17, 2008. A memorial service was held March 22, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Church in Mountain Home. Bill was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Lincoln, Kansas, the son of Martin and Emma Rediker. He is survived by his wife, Venetta; son, Cliff (Barbara) Rediker, daughters, Christine (John) Malota, and Joline (Philip) Perry, brothers Marvin, Elmer, Gerald, and one sister, Elna Fager; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.
Verla G. Werth
Verla G. Werth, 92, of Salina, died March 24, 2008. She was born Verla Henry on August 25, 1915, in Beatrice, NE. Verla was a homemaker and a kind and gentle person. She often cared for family, providing child care and also served as a foster parent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 2001.
She is survived by a sister, Florence Kern of Salina, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Private Inurnment will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
Cremation was selected. There is no visitation. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Andrew's Catholic School, Abilene.
