n St. John's Missionary Baptist Church's celebration of 125 years of music ministry continues today and Sunday at the church, 215 S. Chicago. The church started 129 years ago and the music ministry began four years later.
A tour of Salina's African-American historical points of interest begins at 10 a.m. today at the church. The "For A Season" concert will be at 6 p.m.
Morning worship will be 10 a.m. Sunday. A closing program and dedication service will be at 4 p.m,

n NORTON -- Members of Immanuel Lutheran Church will tour the old church site northwest of town and the proposed new location one mile west of town at 7 tonight.
The church will celebrate its 100th anniversary Sunday with a celebration worship service at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. David Bretscher as guest preacher. He served as Immanuel's pastor from 1992 to 2000. Members and guests will gather for a banquet at the American Legion Hall after the service. n ABILENE -- New Trail Fellowship plans services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday on land east of Abilene where a ministry will be built. The site is on the northwest corner of Interstate Highway 70 and Jeep Road.
n Guitarist Charles David Smart will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Salina First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio. Smart has played his guitar throughout the U.S. and in several other countries, sharing the platform with leading performing artists such as Roy Clark, First Call, NewSong, Larnel Harris, Pat Metheny and Clark Terry. There will be bales of hay for seating, or bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, meet at the Livestock Arena in Eisenhower Park.
It's also "Horsin' Around" Sunday where people will bring their horses. Meet after church at the practice arena at the fairgrounds. A potluck meal is planned, too.
n Salina Bible Church, 2100 Quincy, is offering an Awana program through the 2008-09 school year. There are Awana clubs for children who are age 3 by Sunday through high school.
The first meetings are Wednesday; 6 to 7 p.m. for the high school club and 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. for all other clubs. For more information, call the church office, 823-9138, between 9:30 a.m. and noon.
n The Rev. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, is coming to the Salina Diocese on Saturday, Sept. 6, where he will be the main speaker and presenter at a banquet and conference. These events are open to people of all religious denominations.
Pavone will celebrate the 8 a.m. Mass on Sept. 6 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N. Ninth. He will speak at the Respect Life Banquet, which will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 1616 W. Crawford. Tickets cost $20 for the banquet and $20 for the conference.
