Downtown businessman and Summer Bash promoter Tony Dong said two prior events here have been successful, selling 1,200 and 1,500 tickets each. Those events were at the Masonic Center.
This time, Dong said, they’ve decided to hold the event outdoors, at the fair arena, which can hold up to 3,000.
“We’re not expecting to get 3,000, but it would be terrific if we did,” Dong said.
Gates open at 7 p.m., with fights starting at about 7:45 p.m.
Dong said the event will include 15 fights, including at least one girl-on-girl battle, and that about half of the fighters will be local.
Dong hopes to bring three or four such events to Salina each year.
Ticket prices include $19 for general admission, $25 for reserved seating, $30 for box seats and $60 for VIP seating. Dong said he thought VIP seating areas already were sold out Wednesday afternoon.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate, online at www.theuff.com, and also at the House of Sight and Sound, 1300 S. Santa Fe; Martinelli’s Little Italy, 158 S. Santa Fe; Martini’s Steak and Chop House, 117 N. Santa Fe.; and the Corner Store, Ninth and Crawford.
