Dale Eugene Brooks, 84, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009. Dale was born July 28, 1925, in Ramona to Rose and Albert Brooks. He graduated from Salina High School, class of 1944. Dale was in the Navy and a World War II veteran. On June 8, 1951, he married Betty Joan Larson. He taught school in Salina for more than 30 years and retired from teaching in 1986.

Dale was preceded in death by his son, Carry, in 2006. Survivors include his wife, Joan; a daughter, Becky Birdsong and husband David, of Salina; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Brooks, of Olathe; three grandchildren, Heather Wiens and husband Ryan, of Olathe, Brooke Birdsong, of Mission, and Bret Birdsong, of Salina; and a great-grandchild, Nicholas Wiens, of Olathe.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 8, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
