Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said Baxter’s daughter, Shelby Baxter, 16, was driving a car at 5:46 p.m. in the 4800 block of Smolan Road when Lori Baxter commented that the car was going too fast. When Shelby slowed the car to 10 mph, her sister, Casey Brady, 21, Assaria, said that the car was moving too slow.
Shelby told her sister that if she didn’t like the speed of the car, she should get out, Kochanowski said, but Brady said the car was moving too fast.
“The mother evidently said it wasn’t (moving too fast) and she got out, hitting her head on the pavement,” the sheriff said.
Lori Baxter was alert and talking when paramedics arrived, Kochanowski said. She was taken to Salina Regional Health Center and then to the Wichita hospital.
