Drovers gets $400,000 gift

ELLSWORTH — “It’s a big boost,” is how Mark Roehrman describes a recent donation of $400,000 from Jack Vanier, Brookville, to the National Drovers Hall of Fame in Ellsworth.

The project involves renovation of the Signature Insurance Building and nearby buildings in downtown Ellsworth to house a museum complex dedicated to Ellsworth’s cowboy history.

“We’ve been in the cattle business my whole life, that’s how our business got started,” Vanier said. “I talked to the people over there, and they’re very dedicated, responsible individuals, and I wanted to do something for the community of Ellsworth.”
