Station to replay Shrine Bowl game
BUNKER HILL -- Smoky Hills Public Television, Salina cable channel 2, will air a tape of the 2008 Kansas Shrine Bowl in its entirety at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Technical and weather-related problems caused the station to miss about the first hour of the live broadcast of the game July 26 from Emporia State University's Welch Stadium.

Orientation dates set for seminar
At 7 p.m. Wednesday and Aug. 13, The Salina First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, will offer an orientation to Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.
During the 13-week university, Ramsey teaches participants how to save money, live on a budget, communicate about money, eliminate debt, find bargains and experience the joy of giving.
People should attend only one of the two orientation sessions.
The 13-week course begins Aug. 27.

Dinner theater trip planned to Wichita
Reservations are due by Monday for the Salina Parks and Recreation 50 Plus Program's trip Aug. 7 to the Crown Uptown Dinner Theater in Wichita.
The group will see the Ray Cooney comedy "Caught in the Net." The show is about a taxi driver trying to keep his two families in different parts of the city happy and unaware of each other. However, his teenage children, a girl from one family and a boy from the other, have met on the Internet and are eager to meet in person.
Cost of the show and a buffet lunch is $42.

Casino trip set for Aug. 15 to Horton
The Salina Parks and Recreation Department is offering a trip on Aug. 15 to Golden Eagle Casino, Horton.
The cost is $15, and reservations must be made in advance by calling 309-5765.
The chartered bus will leave at 8 a.m. from the southwest corner of the Bicentennial Center. The trip includes four hours of gaming and $10 cash back. A special stop is planned for a tour of Schlaegel's, a popcorn factory.

Sign language class is available
A class in beginning sign language in signing Exact English will be offered from Aug. 18 to Oct. 13.
The fee for the class, which meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, is $45, which doesn't include the cost of the book. The classes will meet at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Roach and Beloit.
