'Lawn Chair' series begins in Glasco

GLASCO -- The Kansas Sampler Foundation's new series of programs ¬­-- "Bring Your Own Lawn Chair," designed to raise awareness of rural communities -- will be unveiled at 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Glasco.

This year's series features four of the foundation's eight rural culture elements -- architecture, art, commerce, and cuisine. Four towns of fewer than 500 population will be showcased.

Joan Nothern and other residents of Glasco, population 499, will explain a local effort to restore three buildings to use as the National Highway 24 Museum, and other small-town issues.

The other town in north-central Kansas involved in the "Bring Your Own Lawn Chair" series is Morland, (population 155) in Graham County, 10 a.m. on Sept. 13.
