Wheat plot tour May 23 in Saline County The Central Kansas Extension District plans a wheat plot tour in Saline County May 23rd. The first visit is 8:30 a.m. on the Mark and Brent Laas farm 2 miles east of Brookville at Kansas Highway 140 and Reese Road. The plots contain 17 wheat varieties. The second visit is 11 a.m. at the Vaughn Isaacson farm one quarter mile east of Interstate Highway 135 on Mentor Road. The plot contains 17 varieties and a foliar fungicide demonstration. A complimentary meal follows at the Mentor Fire Station, courtesy of Phillips Seed Farms. Kansas State University Extension agronomists Stu Duncan and Jim Shroyer will discuss varieties in the plots. Extension plant pathologist Erick DeWolf will discuss wheat diseases in the 2008 wheat crop and disease ratings for varieties in the plot.
